Dixie Hardin Davis, native of Ponchatoula and resident of Prairieville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the age of 93. She was born on September 7, 1927, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Clinton Hardin and Ruth Griffin Hardin. Dixie was the perfect example of a strong Southern lady, a role model of a mother and wife, a loving grandmother and great grandmother, and a special friend to many. Â
Dixie is survived by her children, Al Davis (Charlene), Debbie Lambert (David), Lynn Simon (Earl), Gary Davis (Donna), and Edie Michel (Mark), 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Alvin Davis, Sr., daughter, Linda Ann Davis, and brother, Cecil Hardin.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dixie's caregiver, Glenda Dawson.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 12:00 pm until 1:45 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Thursday at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Paul McDuffie officiating.
Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dixie Davis to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Retreat Center at PO Box 130 Osyka, MS 39657.
