Denise Maria Valenti Accardo, 62, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on June 16, 2026.
Denise was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend whose love, laughter, and generosity touched countless lives.
She dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a respiratory therapist. Throughout her distinguished career, she served patients and families at Earl K. Long Medical Center, Charity Hospital, Lallie Kemp, Northshore Rehab, Regency Hospital, North Oaks Medical Center, PAM Specialty, and most recently East Jefferson General Hospital. Her compassion, skill, and commitment to her patients touched countless lives. Denise was known not only for helping save lives but also for the lifelong friendships she built with coworkers who became like family. Her career was more than a profession; it was a calling, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to serving others.
Outside of her career, Denise found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sun tanning by the pool, spending time at the beach, and sharing unforgettable stories that could make anyone laugh. She loved barbecuing and boiling crawfish for her family, and nothing brought her greater happiness than having everyone gathered around the table together. Family meals filled with laughter, stories, and love were among her most treasured moments.
Denise was always on the go, a true road runner who rarely slowed down. Whether she was running errands, helping a friend, supporting her family, or enjoying her favorite Sonic Dr Pepper, she approached life with energy and enthusiasm.
Above all else, Denise’s greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She was incredibly proud of each of them and cherished every accomplishment, milestone, and memory they shared. She loved spending time studying with her grandchildren, encouraging them to do their best and celebrating their successes. Whether it was a ball game, an awards ceremony, a school event, or any special occasion, Denise was always there cheering them on. Her family could always count on seeing her in the crowd, smiling proudly and supporting the people she loved most.
Some of her family’s favorite memories were made on long road trips, where Denise could be found singing and dancing in the car with her children as they headed off on their next adventure. She had a gift for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories.
Denise was also always the one behind the camera, making sure every special moment was captured. She filled her phone and photo albums with pictures of the people she loved most, preserving memories that her family will treasure forever.
She is survived by her loving father, Pete Valenti; her daughters, Alexis Accardo and Tabitha Accardo; her granddaughter, Mia Austin; and her grandsons, Axl Watkins and Derrick Wilson Jr.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Valenti; her grandparents, Frank and Mary Valenti, and Joe and Bessie Vilardo; as well as several beloved aunts and uncles.
To know Denise was to love her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, strength, and unconditional love. Her stories, her smile, and the countless lives she touched throughout her career and personal life will never be forgotten. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love lives on in the memories she captured, the traditions she created, and the family she cherished so deeply.
Mom, thank you for every memory, every laugh, every road trip, every picture, every hot meal, every phone call, and every lesson. Thank you for showing us what unconditional love looks like and for always being our biggest supporter. We will carry your love with us forever and miss you every day until we meet again.
Forever loved, forever remembered.
