Debra "Debbie" Dephillips

Debra "Debbie" Porter DePhillips, 54 of Independence, LA was taken too soon on August 21, 2016. Debbie was a Dayton, Ohio transplant, who has called Louisiana home for the past 23 years. She was the wife of King M. DePhillips, Jr; mother to Amber Elaine and her husband Theodore Schiro, Robert Dale Parker II, Justin Colt DePhillips, and Heath Douglas DePhillips; daughter to Elaine Porter; grandmother to Brody Trey and Abby Marie DePhillips; sister to Donnie and his wife Rose Porter, Jeff and his wife Lisa Porter; aunt to Jennifer, Sierra, Megan, and Zack; and a devoted dog mom to several fur babies. Debbie was a passionate dog rescuer for the Tangi Humane Society. She was also a commissioned officer for Tangipahoa and St. Helena Sheriff's Department, and the Roseland Police Department, as an animal cruelty investigator. She will be greeted by her father, Donald R. Porter; son, King "Trey" DePhillips; father-in-law, King M. DePhillips Sr. and her grandparents. The family would like to send a special thank you for the love and support from the rescue community and to Mike and Carol DePhillips for opening their home and for the love and generosity they have shown Debbie's family and friends. Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Sons Funeral Home in Hammond, Thursday, August 25, 2016 starting at 6:00pm until 9:00pm Visitation will resume on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. until a Celebration of Debbie's Life begins at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
