David R. Carter, 85 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve, Louisiana. He was born on November 29, 1932, in Montpelier, Louisiana, one of six sons of the late Leon Carter and the late Ernestine Cutrer Carter. David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired from Sunbeam Bakery after 29 years.
David is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rosalie Lupo Carter; daughter, Linda C. Palmisano (Michael); grandchildren, Danielle C. Harper (Todd), and Devin W. Carter; great grandchildren, Audrey Carter, Luke Harper, Hunt Harper, and Kayden Carter; brothers, Thomas Carter, and Marshall Carter (Jeanette); sister-in-law, Virginia Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Dennis W. Carter; grandson, Dennis W. Carter, Jr.; great grandson, Mason Carter; and brothers, John Stewart Carter, Jesse Clines Carter, and MacArthur Carter.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd. Hammond, Louisiana 70401, from 9:00 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.
