It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of David Lynch Parish, 49, of Hammond, Louisiana. Â David died unexpectantly at his home on Monday, January 11, 2021 following a short illness. Â He is survived by his son David Earl Brownson Parish, parents George and Jimmie Parish of Radford, VA, sister Mary Mitchell and brother in law Mike of Dallas, TX, his sonâs mother with whom he remained close, Rita Anne Parish and her parents, Chip and Elsa Blessey of Hammond.
Born in Radford, Virginia, David spent his childhood there, graduating from Radford High School in 1990. Â He had a great love for all things Louisiana, having spent time in Jonesville with his many aunts, uncles and cousins during the summers of his youth. Â After graduating from University of Southeastern Louisiana, he settled in Hammond.
David had a great love for his family and adored his son David Earl. They shared a love of comic books, board games, and building LEGO villages, of which there were many. They attended Comic Con together in New Orleans in costume in 2019.
His passions and pursuits were varied and abundant. Â Like his father, he shared a talent for and appreciation of music. Â He was a gifted guitar player and was teaching his son to share his love of music. Â He was a talented woodworker, having designed and built many` pieces of custom furniture. Â He had a vast knowledge and appreciation for rare currency and coins that he shared with his paternal grandfather, Emmett Brownson, with whom he also shared an irreverent sense of humor, contagious laugh and handsome smile.
David was an âoutsideâ guy. Â He loved nature, especially any body of water, from the New River that he fished as a boy, to the swamplands and marshes of Louisiana that he loved as a young man, to the coast of Florida where he spent many memorable vacations with his family in Pensacola.
