It is with great sadness that we share the passing of David A. Jones Sr., who left us peacefully on Oct. 5, 2024 at the age of 75. David was a kind, down-to-earth man who made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born on Dec. 13, 1948, David grew up in Hammond, Louisiana, where his love for the outdoors took root. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or just enjoying nature, he found his greatest joys in the simple things. He loved sharing these moments with his friends and family, always happiest when he was outside.

David worked in the oil and gas industry for over 35 years at Marathon Petroleum in Garyville, LA. His strong work ethic and dedication were respected by his colleagues, and he built lasting relationships throughout his career.

A proud member of the Masonic fraternity, David served as Past Master of Livingston Lodge #160. His time with the lodge was spent building lasting bonds and serving his community. He was admired by his brothers for his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering dedication.

Above all else, David was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. His warmth, laughter, and generosity will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories of those who knew him.

David is survived by his sons, David A. Jones, Jr. and wife Shawn, and Matthew B. Jones and wife Staci; grandchildren, Meagan Benson and her husband Graham, Brendan Ploger and wife Katelyn, Payden Jones, Ashlynn Jones, and Mason Jones; great-grandchild, Paislee Ploger; brother, Jessie Jones, Jr.; and niece, Stephanie Whittier.

He was preceded in death by his father Jesse Jones, and his mother Oma Lea Jones

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 1:00 PM. 

Interment will follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.
