Darlene Lulow Lacara

Darlene Lulow Lacara, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 61, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Thursday, July 8, 1965, in San Jose, California, to the late Robert Ray Lulow and Mary Giovingo Lulow.

Darlene worked as a Title Clerk and took pride in her career, but her greatest joy came from the people and things she loved most. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Mary Elise, and treasured the time they spent together, especially their adventures at Walt Disney World.

Darlene found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed baking, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an easy way of making those around her laugh, smile, and feel special. Darlene's favorite time of year and holiday was Christmas.

One of Darlene’s most beloved companions was her dog, or four-legged son, Teddy. Teddy was more than a pet to Darlene; he was part of her family.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Elise Lacara; former husband and father to their daughter, Joseph Lacara Jr.; siblings, Sandy McCaleb, Robert Lulow Jr., and Debbie Oakley and her husband, Scott; her beloved dog, Teddy; numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved; and many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Although Darlene’s long illness brought difficult days, she will be remembered for so much more than her illness. She will be remembered for her laughter, her kindness, her sense of humor, and the happiness she brought to those around her. She was a devoted mother, a loving daughter and sister, a cherished aunt, and a loyal friend who found joy in the people and simple moments that mattered most.

Darlene will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Family and friends will be received at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 North Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 9:00 am until the funeral mass begins at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.
