Dannie Alex Sharp passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 78. He was born on Sunday, February 22, 1948 in Hammond, Louisiana, to the late Cordie Sharp and the late Alex Sharp. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, he was a man whose heart was as big as his personality. Known as “Uncle Bo” to his nieces and nephews, he loved joking around, making people laugh, and bringing joy wherever he went. He never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel like family.
For 19 years, he drove a school bus for the Tangipahoa Parish School Board, where he loved the children on his route. He also had a true passion for cooking, sharing his talents at several establishments throughout Ponchatoula. For him, cooking was more than a job; it was a way to bring people together and show his love for others.
Above all, he loved people. Whether he was sharing a laugh, cooking a meal, or simply spending time with those around him, he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. His greatest legacy will not be measured by what he did, but by the love he gave and the lives he touched.
Though his absence leaves an unimaginable hole in the hearts of those who loved him, his laughter, kindness, and loving spirit will live on forever. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Dannie is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Gail Sharp; daughter, Bridget Gillies (Stephen); son, Christopher Sharp (Kim); grandchildren, Peyton Gillies, Brayden Gillies, Tori Gillies, Talon Sharp, and Cannon Sharp; brother, Charles Watts, and sister, Ethel Wust.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Sharp; mother, Cordie Sharp; sisters, Esther Berthelot, and Sadie Dupre, and brother, Wallace Watts Sr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
