Cynthia Ann St.Romain Ayo peacefully passed away, with her daughter by her side, on Monday, May 26, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 73. She was born on Saturday, April 12, 1952, in Plaucheville, Louisiana, to the late Herman and Minnie Couvillion St. Romain. She was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Cynthia will be remembered for her infectious laughter, vibrant spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her. She had a remarkable gift for storytelling, filling every room with laughter. Cynthia always entertained the family with her sense of humor and unforgettable performances, especially when singing and dancing to Melissa Etheridge in her iconic shoulder-padded blazer. She also loved listening to Fleetwood Mac while doing housework, turning even the most mundane tasks into a fun and lively performance.
Although Cynthia had a complex medical history, she faced the adversities with courage and resilience. The road was not always easy, but she never allowed her challenges to dim the bright light of her personality.
Above all, Cynthia was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Amy, who was her pride and joy. She never missed an opportunity to support and celebrate Amy’s achievements, cheering her on with enthusiasm and love. Together, they embraced life with an unbreakable bond. Cynthia’s memory will forever live on in the laughter she inspired, the stories she told, and the love she so generously gave.
Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Amy Nelson (Stacy Thompson); sister, Alice Corvers; and brother, Tim St.Romain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Minnie Couvillion St.Romain; sisters, Marie Larriviere and Catherine McCarron; and brother, Bert St.Romain.
