Curtis Rodriguez, age 71, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He was born on September 2, 1952 in Independence, Louisiana to the late Ansein Rodriguez and Zelma R. White. Curtis proudly served his country in the US Army for 10 years, starting his first assignment overseas in Germany, transitioning to Fort Dix in New Jersey, served at posts in Washington DC among many other duty stations across the US. During his time in the Army, he used his tough guy exterior to work out, took up boxing and even earned his black belt in Capoeira. Once out of the military he enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, getting dressed up to go dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Curtis had a sense of humor that was unmatched, smart as a whip, never met a stranger and will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind his fiance, Lynne Hurst; siblings, Mildred "Patsy" Lenze, Maudine Griggs (George), Sheryl Achord (Earl), Connie Depew (Bobby), and Pam Rieken (Tree); as well as his furbaby, Taz.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and an infant brother, Thomas Larry Rodriguez; as well as his furbaby, Poochie.
The family will hold a memorial service at Millville Baptist Church in Ponchatoula, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Arrangements were entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home.
