Cornelius Jesse "Bill" Hyde III

Cornelius Jesse Hyde III (Bill), intelligent, witty educator, counselor, mentor, successful businessman, husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 after battling dementia and cancer. He was 80.  He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years whom he adored and spoiled, Pamela Goblowsky Hyde, his son Joshua Christian Hyde (Karen); his daughter Allison Hyde Bockerstett (Sean); two grandsons, Christian Joshua Hyde and Luke Michael Bockerstett; a granddaughter, Caroline Grace Hyde, his loving sisters, Beverly Hyde Flynt (Ab) and Sandra Hyde Crisp (Del); and his treasured nieces and nephews.  He was reared in Hammond, Louisiana and attended Southeastern from nursery school through college. He was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius Jesse Hyde Jr., who served as Registrar at Southeastern; his mother, Regina Taylor Hyde (a.k.a. Rho-Gina), an accomplished and admired teacher; and “The Great Aunt” Vada Parker. He was a member of The Country Club of Louisiana and Highlands Country Club where he served as president in 2005.  He loved tennis, golf, watching television, keeping abreast of news, sports, and business; his family, and a great host of friends and former students. Until undergoing chemo, he sported a full head of hair, which was NOT colored and of which he was quite proud. Bill was a 1968 graduate of Tulane Law School and received an M.S. in accounting in 1972 from LSU. From 1968 until 1982, he was an Assistant Professor teaching business law and real estate at LSU. He was a member of Louisiana Land Title Association of which he was President from 1994-1995. He founded Baton Rouge Title Company which Chicago Title bought in 1995. Since then, he served as General Counsel for Title Exchange Company and consultant for Baton Rouge Title Company and operated a general law practice, Hyde Law Firm. He addressed organizations on subjects of real estate law and tax deferred exchanges. He was certified by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission, the Bar Association, and the Association of Certified Public Accountants as an instructor for continuing education. A graveside service will be conducted at the Hyde Cemetery in Chesbrough, Louisiana, Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 12:00 noon.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
