Colin Joseph Barrilleaux Sr., of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the age of 76. He was born on October 15, 1946, in Harvey, Louisiana, the son of the late Carbett Joseph Barrilleaux and Eula Cheramie Barrilleaux. Colin was a man who loved a good story! He was generous and loved his family above all. He enjoyed fishing in Manchac, watching football, listening to live music and dancing, and any opportunity to socialize with others. Colin loved a good joke and never met a stranger. He enjoyed reading his Bible and was always up for a hearty Biblical debate. He owned a local seafood shop in Hammond, LA called Seafood Dats Us. He had various jobs and entrepreneurial adventures including working in refineries and owning three shrimp boats. He was a loving father to five amazing children and a devoted partner to the love of his life, Doris Carter.
Colin is survived by his children, Carbett "Corey" Barrilleaux (Jessica), Colin Barrilleaux Jr., Chad Barrilleaux, Amy Koch (Edward IV), and Alison Barrilleaux Babin (Kenneth Jr.); grandchildren, Carbett Joseph "Corey" Barrilleaux Jr., Olivia Grace Barrilleaux, Sophie Mae Barrilleaux, Elizabeth Jean Barrilleaux, Erica Jean Barrilleaux, Edward G. Koch V, Elijah Grant Koch, Abigail Catherine Koch, Kenneth Joseph Babin III, Kammie Lynne Babin, Amelia Catherine Babin, and Kade Michael Babin; loving and devoted partner, Doris Carter; sister, "Queen" Aradine Rome; sister-in-law, Lou Barrilleaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Colin was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Rebekah Leigh Koch; siblings, Gail Usey (Norman), Carliss Willis (Don), Daniel Barrilleaux, Eric Barrilleaux, and Windy Ann Barrilleaux; and brother-in-law, Carroll Rome.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Landmark Nursing Home in Hammond where Colin was a beloved resident. He made many friends there and was a staff favorite especially when he would wink at the nurses and call them 'princess.'
