Claire Cardinale Varisco

Claire Cardinale Varisco, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away at North Oaks Medical Center on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the age of 81. She was born on Saturday, November 18, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Alphonse P. and Katie Milioto Cardinale.

Claire was a loving and caring woman who faithfully served God by serving others through her church and community. She retired after many years of working for the Tangipahoa Parish School System in the cafeteria where she was affectionately known as "Grannie" to many of her students. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Claire is survived by her sons, Sal Varisco, and Paul Varisco; daughters, Kristie V. Chabreck, and Francine V. Zahn; grandchildren, Danielle Rider (Randy), Lauren Zahn, Brittney Trahan (Zach), Cory Varisco (Hayley), Haley Zahn, John J. Chabreck IV, and Austen Petz; great-grandchildren, Rynnick Rider, Penelope Varisco, and Maverick Rider, sisters, Lucy Whiddon, Virginia Goings, Bobbie Federer, and her brother, Anthony Cardinale.

She is preceded in death by her Son-in-Law, John J. Chabreck III.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11:00 am, with Rev. Michael Starkey officiating.

Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.
