Proverbs 31:31 "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."
Christy Overmier Ford, a loving and dedicated wife, mother, daughter and sister, of Loranger, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the age of 49. She was born on June 8, 1975, in Hammond, Louisiana. Christy was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and she received her bachelors degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. She was a devoted law enforcement officer working for the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections just shy of her 25th year anniversary. At work she was beloved by her coworkers, always having a smile on her face and was always there to help. At home she was the "go-to" of the family who could fix any problem and offer support to anyone in need. She cherished her daughters and was deeply loved by her family and friends. If you knew Christy, you knew she had a competitive spirit and a confidence in her abilities, always striving to be the best she could be and many times achieving it. Christy was selfless in life and as a final act of selflessness Christy chose to be an organ donor in order to continue to help people even through her death.
Christy is survived by her husband, William Ford; daughters, Karlie Anne Ford (Tyler) and Skylar Grace Ford; parents, Timothy and Patricia Jones Overmier; sister, Leslie Lynette Overmier; father and mother-in-law, Charles Walter and Rita Anthony Ford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.W. "Spike" Jones, Millie Alford Jones Braud, Gary Overmier, and June Parent Overmier; and cousin, Kelle Stevens.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm with a Funeral Service at 12:30 pm.
Interment will follow at Loranger Community Cemetery in Loranger, Louisiana.
