Charles Overstreet Paul, Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Born March 14, 1931 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, the son of James William Paul and Hilda Parham Kemp. He graduated Ponchatoula High School in 1947 and joined the Army Air Corps in 1948 where he was able to test as a college equivalent and enter Officer Candidate School. He served the Air Corps/Airforce for 21 years and saw Korea, Japan and Vietnam. He was a flight instructor and strategic warfare officer. As such, among other duties, he participated in Operations Rolling Thunder and Chrome Dome. He retired from military service in 1969 and from the workforce at age 65. He provided well for his family. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Perrin of Ponchatoula; sons James William Paul, III and Charles Overstreet Paul, II of Fort Worth, Texas; Grandsons Ronnie Gibbons of Fort Worth Texas and Brandon Hudson of Gordo, Alabama; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jacqueline Scruggs Paul; parents; daughter, Shelia Ann Paul; brother James William Paul, II; and granddaughter Heather Joy Hubbard.
