Blackwell, Charles L.

Charles was born December 13, 1937, to the late Charles D. and Minerva Sanders Blackwell and passed away September 23, 2021, at age 83.  Charles was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church, Livingston Lodge #160 F&AM and was past president of the Hammond Jaycees, Hammond Lions Club and South Tangi Educational System.  He was a former member of the board of directors of First Guaranty Bank and was the owner of Blackwell Electrical Contractors for 35 years.  Charles is survived by his wife, Dorothy Blackwell; son, Charles Malcolm Blackwell and fiancée Gisele A. Vermette; step-children, Richard Bailey, Vallie Carney and Theresa Russell, sister, Charlene B. Blair; numerous grandchildren including Chris, Brandon, and Ashley Poillion; and numerous great grandchildren including Cade Poillion and Ava Poillion. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy B. Poillion.  Visitation will be held Monday, September 27, 2021, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 9:00 am until religious services at 1:00 pm.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Leon Dunn and interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with masonic rites.  Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity or by doing a kind deed from someone in need.
