Charles Kenneth Cardaronella was born July 24, 1956, in Hammond, Louisiana to loving parents Virginia and Tony Cardaronella, and was a lifelong resident of Independence, Louisiana. Â On August 23, 2020, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Charles peacefully succumbed to the complications of COVID 19, after fighting hard to overcome the disease.
Charles was the proud father of daughter Aeriel Cardaronella Cox, son-in-law Lance Scott Cox, and loving grandfather to Allie Ann Cox and Macie Ann Cox, all of Folsom, Louisiana.  Charles was the youngest of three siblings, survived by a brother, Larry T. Cardaronella, also of Independence, and a sister, Tonia C. Canale (Charles Jr.) of Tickfaw, Louisiana.  Nieces and nephews include Toby Cardaronella (Rhonda), Timothy Cardaronella (Tara), Jeffrey Cardaronella, Jeremy Cardaronella, Lacey C. Todora (Phil), and Casey C. Stewart (Josh), Brian  Canale (Melissa) and goddaughter and niece Dea C. Frederick (Brian), along with many great nieces and nephews.  Additionally, he leaves behind his friend and Aerielâs mother, Paula Dugas and his loving godmother Mary Frances Cardaronella Brashears.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Virginia Carden Cardaronella and grant-parents Frank Sr. and Victoria Chula Cardaronella, and Thomas and Anna Belle Shelton Carden.
A 1974 graduate of Independence Boysâ High School, Independence, Louisiana, Charles was a Trade Show Carpenter with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Â His work took him to various parts of the United States and into Canada, where he made lifetime friends. Â Charles was a member of the Parish of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, and he volunteered much time at the Independence Italian Cultural Museum. Â Charlesâ loves included family, friends, and fishing. Â He enjoyed cooking and sharing his jerky with everyone, too, as well as learning more of his Sicilian heritage.
Visitation will be conducted at Harry McKneely Funeral Home, Hammond, LA, on Friday, August 28, beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM. Â Interment will be held in a private ceremony at a later date.
Honorary Pallbearers include Sidney Stabile, Richard Whalen, Guy Capace, David Falcone, Tommy Mandella, and Joey Campo. Â Memorial gifts can be made in Charlesâ name to the Independence Italian Cultural Museum, P. O. Box 582, Independence, LA. 70443. Â Special thanks for all of the prayers during Charlesâ fight, for the excellent care received from the OLOL Special Disease Unit, OLOL Palliative Care Team, OLOL Care Managers, and OLOL Chaplains.
