Charles Gilbert Bottolfs was born on November 08,1937, fell asleep in death on August 26, 2022. His Parents were Samuel Andrew Bottolfs and Eva Barnum Bottolfs.  Charles grew up in a very Christian home.  He was a member for 78 years of the Happywoods Church of God of Abrahamic Faith where he served as elder for 49 years.   Serving in the church as spiritual leader, teacher and serving at the Lord’s Table was his calling and duty.  He was glad to go to the house of the Lord and worship God the maker of heaven and earth. Charles served on the Church of God General Conference Board of Directors as chairman from 1999 - 2004 and on the Ministerial Recognition Board.  He was a Christian who shared his love for the Lord and His son Jesus Christ as a servant both in the church and in the secular life.

Charles worked for the E. I. DuPont Chemical Plant in Reserve Louisiana for 30 years.  He started in Production then he moved into Human Resources and Community Relations.  He earned the Merit Award for Business and Industry as chairman of the St. John Parish Honor roll Roundup 1992. He represented DuPont at Xavier University and Xavier Cluster and Children’s Hospital. He was selected Rotarian of the Year by the Rotary Club of LaPlace. After retiring from DuPont in 1994 he worked as a Consultant for Bayou Steel in Human Resources in LaPlace and in Tennessee.  He also served as facilitator of the Marathon/Nalco Community Advisory Panel (CAP) for 21 years.  

Charles was a graduate of Hammond High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society.  He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in Science and Graduate work in Business Administration.  

On June 04, 1960, he married Sylvia Joyce Hutchinson.  They raised three children: Diana Joyce Bottolfs, Dana Claire Bottolfs Keen-McCaslin and Charles Samuel Lee “Sammy” Bottolfs. Over the years their family grew to include 5 grandchildren: Margaret Claire Sandage, Kevin Michael DiMaggio, Megan Danielle Keen, Olivia Johanna Bottolfs and Alexandra Sylvia Bottolfs, and three beloved Great Grandchildren; Palmer Gray Sandage, Olsen Gray Sandage, and Grant Samuel Bottolfs.

Charles enjoyed the RV trips to the beach, the mountains, and amusement parks with the children and grandchildren.  He and Sylvia visited his grandfather’s home in Norway.  Trips to Italy, Hawaii, and a four-month RV trip to Alaska were highlights of their retirement years.  

Charles is preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Eva Barnum Bottolfs; grandparents, Gilbert and Sena Halverson Bottolfs, Charles and Mary Hutchinson Barnum; daughter, Dana Claire Bottolfs Keen McCaslin, Son in law, Daniel Ray Keen.  

Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd. Hammond,  Louisiana 70401 on Friday, September 2, 2022. Visitation will be from 9:00 am -11:00 am with the funeral service at 11:00 am.

Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana to follow.
