Charles Edward Petermann, Jr. gained his wings and entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the age of 80 years old, surrounded by those he loved most. Â He was a beloved husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a favorite uncle, a friend, a man who loved the Lord, Â and a leader in his church. Â Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, stewardship, laughter, and a staunch love of LSU Tiger football and NASCAR, that his family and friends will remember fondly.
He was born on October 20, 1942, in Natalbany, Louisiana, to Charles Edward Petermann, Sr. and Willie Starnes Petermann. Â He graduated from Hammond High School.
He is survived by the love of his life, Brenda Stafford Petermann, his wife of 61 years; Â Three daughters: Cindy Petermann Moreau (Dennis), Sandy Petermann Hanks Williams (Steve), and Christy Petermann Wright (Mike); Grandchildren: Â Alex, Aidan, Chase, Chad, Chelsea, Abby and four great grandchildren; and Siblings: Â Charlotte Hanna and Ronnie Petermann (Kathleen). Â Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Â his great grandparents: Â Charles R. H. Petermann and Clara Dunn Petermann, and his son-in-law, Isaac âButchâ Hanks.
Charles was a man of determination and dedication both in his personal and professional life. Â He worked at Dupont Dow in Reserve, Louisiana for 29 years, before retiring to enjoy traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Â
Above all, he was a man of God filled with great faith and a great love for all people. He was an encourager, an influencer, and a strong man, comforting and supporting anyone in need. His actions spoke as loud as his words. His faith brought him many inspirational opportunities, such as serving as a Deacon at Natalbany Baptist Church and Immanuel Baptist Churches. In 2022, Charles received the high honor of being named Deacon Emeritus at Immanuel Baptist Church, in Hammond, Louisiana.
Visitation will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church located at 1503 Pecan Street, Hammond, Louisiana on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 11 AM until 1:00 PM. Â The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Arcola-Roseland Cemetery. Â
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Charles E. Petermann, Jr.âs name to Immanuel Baptist Church.
