Charles David Champagne was born January 14, 1945, in Donaldsonville, La, to the late Felix and Eunice Sanchez Champagne. He passed away at home March 5, 2023, surrounded by his family. Charles was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee with over 40 years of service and a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church. He was kind and generous man that loved and enjoyed his friends and family and they certainly loved and enjoyed him. Charles liked playing cards, dove hunting and fishing, but his favorite hobby was mowing his yard. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Francine King Champagne; children, Tracy Champagne Haney, Paul David Champagne, Todd Keith Champagne, Amy Champagne Scioneaux (Shane), and Jason Hood (Amy); sister, Gayle Champagne Spraberry; grandchildren, J.B. Newman, Jenee’ Lockard, Landon Scioneaux, Tyler Scioneaux, Jordan Doucet, Whitney Clement, Erika King, Brandt Burns; and great grandchildren, Elijah Barnett, Tayla Barnett, Jazmen Barnett, Lena Clement, Poppi Clement, Braylen Faunce and Brock Faunce. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Carroll Spraberry; and mother-in-law, Mary O. King. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd. Hammond, from 2:00 p.m. until funeral services at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Samaritan’s Purse or Tunnel to Towers in Charles’ name.
