Charles "C.W." Kinchen, age 91, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, after a nice cup of coffee with a close friend. He was born on August 8, 1935, in Albany, Louisiana to the late Ivy and Lily Kinchen. C.W. attended LSU in the ROTC program before marrying the love of his life, Mary Barbara Mixon Kinchen, on February 26, 1966, for 57 wonderful years until her passing in February of 2023. After marriage he went on staff under the direction of then Congressman John Rarick from 1967 to 1975. Once he finished with politics, he decided to join the Postal Service as an on foot letter carrier in 1975 until he retired in 1995. Still wanting to serve the public, he then went on to be an unopposed City Councilman in District A in Ponchatoula for 12 years from 1995 until 2008. All while being a lifelong member of First Baptist Church on Ponchatoula, where C.W. later on would serve as a deacon for many years. A faithful servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his servant heart helped his community as long as he was able. He touched many lived through out his life. C.W. was a wonderful husband, brother, and friend to all who knew him and loved to share a story or two over a nice cup of Community Dark Roast coffee with anyone one who would listen, he will be missed deeply by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He leaved behind many cousins and friends, his church family at First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula, as well as the friends he made at The Phoenix of Hammond and at Ponchatoula Community Care.
Preceding him in death were his beautiful wife of 57 years whom he is reunited in heaven with, Mary Barbara Mixon Kinchen; his sister, Betty Sue Kinchen; as well as his parents, Ivy and Lily Kinchen.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Phoenix of Hammond, Ponchatoula Community Care as well as Hospice Nurse Hannah for their love and care through his final journey.
