Charles "Charlie" Michael Ciolino

Charles "Charlie" Michael Ciolino, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the age of 76. He was born on Thursday, June 26, 1947, in Hammond, Louisiana, to the late Joe and Francis Ciolino.

If he didn’t tease you, he didn’t like you. He was quick-witted and sharp-tongued but in a charming and humorous way. He always had some philosophy or advice to give and would often say that while he might not always be right, he was never wrong. And he never was.

Charlie had a nickname for everyone- Captain America, Pineapple-Head, or Bo. His, of course, was the “Italian Stallion”. He called all young male suitors “roosters”, and if they were lucky, eventually they’d graduate to being called “Rocky Balboa”.

He loved going for a ride, although in Hammond only. Going to Tickfaw was considered a trip for him, warranting an oil/water/tire/etc. check. You could say he was the best auto/fender paint artist around. He could fix or make anything out of anything.

Charlie liked working out but loved showing off his muscles even more.

He loved Notre Dame, but not the Saints so much. Charlie looked forward every year to riling up and picking on all his buddies after a Saints loss, especially his late father-in-law.

Charlie loved the Catholic Church and was an usher for many years. But above all, he loved his family, especially our momma. He used to wake us kids up every morning for school while whistling, saying “Tweet, tweet! That’s bird talk for rise and shine!” Tweet, tweet, daddy. We know you’ve risen and are shining, right by Momma’s side.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Christine Kling Ciolino, parents, Joe and Francis Ciolino, and one son, Brett Kling (Christy).
Charlie is survived by one brother, Frank Ciolino; two daughters, Summer Vicknair (Donald); Sara Ciolino (Jaimie): two grandchildren, Brittany Kling and BJ Kling (Nicole); and two great-granddaughters, Lucy and Blyss; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A Graveside service will be held at Wetmore Cemetery, Hwy 22 Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 10:00 am with Deacon Larry Melancon officiating.
