Catherine Pecararo, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, passed away on February 6, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on November 26, 1937, in Independence, Louisiana, to the late Roy and Angelina Sampere.
Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and the cherished matriarch of her family. She was the heart of her home and took great pride in caring for those she loved. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and gathering, always filled with conversation, laughter, and the smell of her traditional Italian dishes and homemade cookies.
She instilled in her family the importance of togetherness, tradition, and laughter. Catherine's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain forever woven into the family she loved so dearly.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Andrea Smith (Kenny) and Sandy Fulco; her daughter-in-law, Shellie Pecararo; her brother-in-law, Joseph Pecararo (Bernadette); and her grandchildren, Remi De Matteo, Heather Faucheux (Jeff), Jennifer Alfonso (Chad), Jeffrey Smith, Kristen Anzalone (Frankie), and Alexis Pecararo, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Pecararo; her son, Thomas Pecararo; her brothers, Frank Sampere and Buster Sampere; and her sister, Congetta Giamalva.
The family would like to thank Ponchatoula Community Care Center and Notre Dame Hospice for their love and kindness during this difficult time.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 9:30 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Colonial Cemetery in Independence, Louisiana.
