Catherine Genco Gioia

Catherine Genco Gioia passed away June 25, 2025, in Metairie, Louisiana, at the age of 87. She was born November 2, 1937, in Amite, Louisiana, to the late Rose Balisteri Genco and the late Leonard Genco, Sr. She was a resident of Metairie, Louisiana.

She worked at South Central Bell before having her children, Caprice and Cara. She also worked at Strength Footwear in the early 1990s. Catherine loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and son-in-laws, Brian and Trey. She enjoyed shopping, coffee, going out to lunch, and watching the LSU Tigers.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gioia; parents, Rosalie and Leonard Genco, Sr.; brothers, Sammy Genco, Sr. and Leonard “Tank” Genco; and her nephew, Sammy Genco, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Caprice (Brian) and Cara (Trey); grandchildren, Brady, Bryce, Emily, Dominik, Trey, Aislynn, and Haley; loving cousins, Loretta Guilino and Virginia Dunn (who were like her sisters); she is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

She will be missed dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 10:00 am. until the memorial service begins at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in Colonial Cemetery - Independence, LA.
