Catherine Mathilda Wahden Esler, born September 27th, 1940, passed away surrounded by her sons on Friday, April 12th, 2024 at the age of 83. She is survived by her children, Joseph Kenneth Esler Jr (Mika), Robert Stephen Esler, and John Michael Esler (Dana) as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; she is also survived by her sister Linda Wahden McVay (Lyle) and additional extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kenneth Esler Sr, and her beloved parents, Lillian Frances Calongne Wahden and Robert Ellis Wahden. A long-time resident of New Orleans and the surrounding area, Catherine graduated from St Mary’s Dominican High School and LSUNO. At any given time, she was an employee, employer, entrepreneur, teacher, volunteer, ultimately retiring from the State of Louisiana and living out her remaining days on her property in Pearl River, Louisiana. She was a lifelong Catholic who believed firmly in her faith. She was a strong, independent soul, housewife, and loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed. Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, LA, Friday, April 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until religious services at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Arnold Family Cemetery, Hammond, LA.
