Catherine Orlando Calderone

Catherine Orlando Calderone passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Hammond Nursing Home in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 94. She was born on Friday, March 29, 1929, in Tickfaw, Louisiana to Sam and Lena Orlando. She was a resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana.

Catherine was known for her hardworking spirit, and unwavering love for her family, friends, and faith. Many seasons of Catherine’s life were spent out in the field picking strawberries or playing “Maw Maw” to all the little ones.

Catherine is survived by her son, Dominick "Donnie" Calderone (Dottie); daughter, Frances Calderone; grandchildren, Michelle Calderone (Cliff Yee), Dawn Morvant (Mark), Alena Governale (Michael), and Angela Tallo; great grandchildren, Caleb Governale (Hailey Graves), Adalynn "Addie" and Aiden Morvant; and great-great granddaughter, René Emily Governale.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lena Orlando; husband of 50 years, Bennie Calderone; children, Antoinette Calderone Tallo and infant son Louis Matthew “Matt” Tallo; and her siblings, Mary Gourges, Lena Calderone, Vic Orlando, Camille Lence, Annie Lacara, and infant brother Tony Orlando.

The family would like to thank Hammond Nursing Home and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their excellent care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Friday, October 20, 2023, 9:00 am - 10:30 am at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Hammond.

Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, 14450 Hwy 442, Tickfaw, Louisiana 70466, on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Cemetery, Tickfaw, Louisiana.
