Catherine Nettie Alack, age 87, peacefully passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 1st, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She wasn't your typical little old lady, she was a kid at heart who was always down to have fun, eat her chocolate ice cream and any kind of snacks she could get her hands on. Catherine worked as CNA for many years. Being of German descent, she was feisty and stubborn, who would always speak her mind, you didn't have to guess because she would surely let you know, no matter the time or place. She earned her brown belt in karate along with her granddaughter, Theresa, so not only could she talk the talk, she could walk the walk. Along with her fiery side, she was also very kind and giving, enjoyed helping people and would give the shirt off of her back to anyone in need. Catherine could often be found working on her crocheting skills, crossword puzzles, and watching her westerns on TV. If there was a #1 New Orleans Saints Fan, she was it! She loved to watch Brees and the boys, wearing her Saints gear most of the time to represent her favorite team. Her family was her world and loved spending time with them at family gatherings cutting up and making memories they will cherish forever.
She is survived by her children, Catherine Alack, Russell Alack (Angel), Lena Alack, Robert Alack, and Lisa Peters; grandchildren, Shawn, Crystal, Theresa, April, Cathleen, Jessica, Stephanie, Melodie, Amanda, Craig, LeeAnn, Brittany N., Brittany D., Josh, Heather, Trenton, Michelle, Dylan, Christopher; 38 beautiful great grandchildren; two precious great-great grandchildren; brother, George Hoffman; son-in-law, Travis Sanders; her beloved Maltipoo, Prince; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Catherine and George Hoffman; husband, Russell Alack; children, Deborah Delaney and JoAnne Alack Sanders; grandson, Micheal Alack; siblings, Patricia Grill, David Hoffman, and Rex Hoffman; son-in-law, David Brown; and a grand-son-in-law, Bubba Neal III.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, LA. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Trenton Alack will officiate the services with burial to follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her son, Robert, who was her caregiver, who took great care of her in her last days.
The family asks that if you have New Orleans Saints attire, please wear it to honor Mrs. Catherine, who was in fact, the Saints #1 Fan.
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time for my departure is close. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8 CSB
