Carrie Lea Bruce Pierre

Carrie Lea Bruce Pierre passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 82. She was born on Saturday, January 15, 1944, in Sicily Island, Louisiana, to the late Leafy and Curtis Bruce. She was a resident of Folsom, Louisiana.

Carrie was a devoted mother and the heart of her family, a place of comfort and warmth for all who knew her. Her home was always filled with love and laughter, as cousins, nieces, and nephews gathered there by the dozens, knowing they were always welcome. Carrie began her days before sunrise, milking cows and tending to her responsibilities, with a strong and independent determination. She cherished time spent playing cards with her friends, where she earned the affectionate title of “Boss.” Quick-witted and full of life, Carrie had a remarkable way of showing others how to love deeply and loyally, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Carrie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roy W. Pierre; son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Sherry Pierre of Folsom; daughter, Lisa Pierre of Folsom; daughter and son-in-law, Shri and Jeffery Karafa of Somerville, TN; and honorary son, Tom Gross (Amanda) of Folsom; grandchildren, Shane Pierre (Hayley), Nathan Pierre (Darcey), Emma Carter, and Seth Carter; great- grandchildren, Elliot, Adaline, Levi, Jax, and Reed; sister Bernice Warner; brother, Curtis “Buddy” Bruce; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leafy Lambert Bruce and Curtis Bruce, and sisters, Bertha Bourgeois, Francis Bruce, Betty Bruce, Bonnie Baham, Mazie Farlow, and Carolyn Wheeler.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:00 am until the funeral service at 1:00 pm.
