Carolyn Yvonne Bergeron went to her heavenly home on July 20, 2022, at the age of 88. She was born in Tylertown, Mississippi, on August 31, 1933. Carolyn was top of her class, graduating from Salem High School in1951 as valedictorian. She was an avid reader and writer. So much so, that she even wrote a play for the junior class, which was presented at the school auditorium to the public for three different years.
Carolyn was married to Oliver Bergeron on September 26, 1953. He went to be with the lord on February 24, 2015. She retired from First Guaranty Bank in the year 2000, as a retail banking officer. Carolyn was an active member of the First Baptist Church and served on several committees. Her favorite committee was the flower committee, and for several years, she donated roses for Motherâs Day.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Keller; granddaughter, Danielle Makar (Mikey); great-granddaughter, Kennedy; her son, Keith Bergeron (Cindy); granddaughter, Rochelle Davis; grandson, Michael, and great-granddaughter, Claire. Carolyn is also survived by her brother Nelson McKenzie, and sisters, Lucy, Sylvia, and Hilda.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Bergeron; her parents, Floyd and Mary McKenzie; her brother, Dub and Larry McKenzie, and her sisters, Audry, Donis, and WinneMae.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely &Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel in Hammond, on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery Mausoleum in Hammond, Louisiana.
