Carolyn Ratcliff Traylor

Carolyn Ratcliff Traylor “Maw Maw Cuckoo” passed away July 29th at her home in Springfield, Louisiana while surrounded by her family. Her life was characterized by her vibrant personality, her enduring love for her family, and her strength and reliance on God in the face of adversity.

She was born in Bayou Barbary on June 15th, 1941 to Mary Watts Ratcliff and Carl Ratcliff. She was a gifted pianist who could play any song by ear and a creative soul who left beauty everywhere she went. 

She is survived by her loving spouse of 48 years, John Garrison Traylor, her children, daughter Lisa Coxe Kluka and her spouse Frank Kluka, Son-in-Law Aswell “Hot Shot” Kinchen, daughter Laverne Traylor, daughter-in-law Martina Traylor, son Carl Coxe and his spouse Blair Coxe, daughter Elizabeth Coxe, son Dennis Traylor, and adopted sons Billy Jack Traylor and Boris Castillo. She leaves behind a legacy of 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

In death, she is reunited with her devoted daughter Melanie Coxe Kinchen and her beloved sons Mickey Coxe and John Garrison Traylor Jr., her grandchildren Jake Wesley Kinchen and Lexie Faye Coxe, her siblings Otis Ratcliff, Golda Barnum, Floyd Ratcliff, and Rudolph Ratcliff. 

It is by her example that her family will carry on.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home -  Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue at Pine Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A Funeral Service will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 20736 Hwy 444, Livingston, Louisiana on Wednesday at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
