Carol LeSaicherre Paul, a native of Ponchatoula and resident of Central, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family following a long illness. She was 87 years of age.
 Carol was born in 1935 and graduated from Ponchatoula High School, salutatorian, in the Class of 1953. She married the love of her life, Marcel âBuckyâ Paul, her high school sweetheart.

The couple married in Liberty, TX, and eventually settled in Baton Rouge, following Marcelâs military service in Korea. Carol co-founded a business, Baker Agency, and co-authored a childrenâs book, Elbert Egret and Magnolia Cow, both with her husband. A highlight of her life was a trip to France with her husband to attend a family reunion of the LeSaicherres in 2005. She loved to read, solve crossword puzzles, attend live theater and ice-skating events. Everyone that met her said she was incredibly kind-hearted.

She is predeceased by her parents, James and Louise LeSaicherre, and her brother, Lynwood LeSaicherre.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Marcel Paul, her son, Jim Paul of Central, a daughter, Dee Dee Paul Caneva (Tom)of Champaign, IL; six grandchildren, Jennifer Martin (Brady), Rachel Majors(Joey), Christopher Paul (David Bailey), Christine Caneva, Michelle Valli(Gabriel) and Stephanie Caneva; three great-grandchildren, Calvin Martin, Lucy Martin and Joshua Majors; and two sisters, Joan Davis and Judy LeSaicherre, and a nephew, Michael Davis (Stephanie).

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Central, with visitation from 10:00-11:00a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery.
