Carmella Ann "Dolly" Dagro Smith

Carmella Ann "Dolly" Dagro Smith, of Independence, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born on Tuesday, October 13, 1931, in Independence, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Noby Dagro and Ida LaMarca Dagro. Dolly was a law assistant at Milling Firm in New Orleans for 40 years until she retired. She was a long time resident of Mandeville where she was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

Dolly is survived by her step daughter, Michelle Smith; daughter-in-law, Beatriz Smith; grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Christopher Smith, Michael "Mikey" Smith, and Jennifer Smith; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Joey Dagro (Robin), Christine Dagro Haney, Kathy Dagro Fluesmeier (Bruce), Steve Dagro (Laurie), Jim Silvestri (Gayle), Susan Silvestri Deniger (Ronnie), and David Silvestri (Beata).

In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Smith; step son, Mark Smith; brother, Andrew Dagro; sister, Marie Dagro Silvestri; and niece, Lisa Silvestri.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice of Covington, as well as all of the caregivers that assisted in Dolly's care.

Family and friends will be received at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, Louisiana 70448, on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm with a Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm, with Rev. John F. Talamo, Jr. officiating.

Entombment will follow at Lakelawn Metairie Mausoleum in Metairie, Louisiana.
