Carlene Olivia (Harris) Gapinski passed away peacefully at her home in Hammond, Louisiana, on September 23, 2025. A graveside “Going Home” Celebration will be held at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond, on September 26, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
Carlene was born on September 30, 1939, in Modesto, California, to Wilson Eliza Harris and Eulalia Jessie Allen. She grew up in Stanislaus County and graduated from Modesto Public Schools in 1958.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Philip A. Gapinski; sons, Edward Russell McAlpine of Black Diamond, Washington, and Patrick Fagan of Hammond; grandsons, Patrick Alex Fagan II and Forrest Fagan; granddaughter, Britney Holmes; sister, Bernadine Thiesing of Chugiak, Alaska; and brother, Dale Robertson of California. She was preceded in death by her former husbands, Edward McAlpine and George Fagan.
Carlene’s life was marked by her deep faith, love for family, and dedication to medical-related work. She held various positions in health care support services and took pride in helping others pursue their medical careers. She was an active church choir member and found joy in Christian music and fellowship.
She will be remembered for her devotion to Jesus, her family, and the life she built with Philip.
