Capt. Raymond “Bulldog” Anthony Furca, Jr., of Albany, Louisiana, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born on February 9, 1945, in Independence, Louisiana, the son of the late Raymond Anthony Furca Sr. and Lucille Starkey Furca. Raymond served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany where he served as a mechanic. Raymond started his law enforcement career at Louisiana State Police, Troop A in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1980. He was very passionate about his work and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow troopers. He spent time as a Detective in Hammond, Louisiana, but, most of his career was spent in the State Police Internal Affairs where he worked the longest anyone has ever worked in that section. He made all his rank while in Internal Affairs Section. Raymond retired with 30 years of dedicated service on April 15, 2007. Raymond was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, as well as an avid deer hunter. Friends and family knew he loved to tease and joke around. If you were on the receiving end of one of his jokes, then you were liked. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know him and will leave an indelible mark on the lives he touched throughout his commendable life.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Granger Furca; son, Donald Ray Furca; daughter, Beth Furca Pigott (Derek); grandchildren, Kyle Raymond Morrison, Dalton Redmond Furca, Kole Lane Morrison, Kayleigh Rae Pigott; sisters, Lottie Keleher and Jane Aswell (Jim); best friend, George "C-bo" Dean (Virginia); and numerous nieces and nephews.
