Brenda Joy Barron Latino

Brenda Joy Barron Latino was born on May 2, 1944 to the late Ralph H. Barron, Sr. and Ruth Winkler Barron.  She passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023 in Covington, LA.  Brenda was a resident of Ponchatoula and is survived by her husband of 58 years, Guy Frank Latino; son, Michael Latino; daughter, Nancy Penton (Jeff).  

Brenda is survived by her three grandchildren Eric Latino (Kori); Kimberly Lirette (Ryan); and Matthew Latino; and her great grandchildren Avery Latino, Aubrey Latino, Anna Lirette, and Clayton Lirette. 

Brenda is also survived by her brother Danny Barron (Cynthia).

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph Barron, Jr., and Melvin Barron, and her niece, Rebecca Barron McCormick.

Brenda exhibited grace, strength, kindness, patience, and courage; and it was these traits that made her the cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that she was.  Being always willing to put others first and offer comfort and compassion to others, Brenda earned the title of the “mother hen” of our family.   Brenda inherited the gift and love of sewing from her mother.  A natural and masterful seamstress, Brenda could create any garment or make any alteration, no matter how complicated.

Brenda enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween, reading and caring for her pets.  She was well-traveled throughout the states, and relished the experiences of touring Canada, Great Britain, and Italy.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care provided by Passages Hospice and the entire nursing staff and care partners at Avanti Senior Living/Memory Care.

Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 West Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, LA on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 9:00 am until funeral services at 11:00am conducted by Deacon Larry Melancon.  Interment will follow in Rosaryville Cemetery, Ponchatoula, LA.
