Brenda Bankston, 83, passed away peacefully on June 17 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 11, 1943, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Brenda lived a life centered on faith, family, and service. She was the beloved daughter of Louis and Edna Glascock and devoted her life to those she loved most.
Brenda retired from North Oaks Medical Center after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she found strength, fellowship, and joy throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Grant Bankston; her parents, Louis and Edna Glascock; her brother, Louis Jewel Glascock; her sister, Esteen Stewart; and her grandson, Trey DePhillips.
Brenda leaves behind a legacy of love through her three children, Larry (Darla) Bankston, Tessa (Darryl) Alexander, and Missy (Robbie) Dickerson. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Family was Brenda’s greatest treasure. She loved traveling with her family and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events. Her steady presence, her encouragement, and her unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her.
Above all, Brenda will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her kindness, faith, and love for her family will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, June 22, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Albany, Louisiana. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 23, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Bro. Alton Foster will officiate the services with burial to follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Baton Rouge Hospice and Brenda’s personal sitter for the compassionate care, comfort, and support shown to Brenda and her family during her final days.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
