Blaze Thomas Prescia, "PawPaw", native of Independence and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away May 26, 2020. He was 94 years old, a retired East Baton Rouge Parish Accountant, Marine veteran during WWII and a servant of the Most High God. Blaze was a man of great faith and freely shared it with everyone. He loved Jesus and the Holy Spirit and always had a kind word of encouragement. "Beautiful are the feet of those that carry the gospel.â Romans 10:15
Blaze was the life of the party and never met a stranger. He was beloved by everyone that knew him and will be terribly missed by his family. Blaze loved and cared for his first wife, Virginia Distefano Prescia, until she passed, and has been a devoted husband to his wife, Audrey Solar Rotolo Prescia.
Blaze was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Carmela Baglio Prescia; sister, Bessy Spitale; brothers, Joe Prescia Jr. and wife Lee, and Anthony Prescia and wife Anntoinette; and son-in-law, Daniel Murphy.
Blaze is survived by his wife, Audrey; daughter, Mary Jane Nuernberg; granddaughter, Jennifer Nuernberg; great grandchildren, Jordan, Blaze and Jason Nuernberg; great great grandchildren, Noah, Gia, and Amiyah Nuernberg; stepchildren, Robin Johnson, Mary Ann Murphy, Helen Tanguis, Chuck Rotolo, and Mike Rotolo and wife B.J.; step grandchildren, Caleb and Hayden Murphy, Kristi Durant and husband Troy, Jarod Rotolo, Ashley Rotolo and Toni Maattala; step great grandchildren Natalie, Eliana, and Portia Durant, Bella and Roman Rotolo, Logan and Isabelle Maattala. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, David and Bernadette Spitale, and Geraldine, Anthony Jr., Joe and Sal Prescia; brother-in-law; Vince Spitale; former son-in-law, Chuck Nuernberg; as well as many cousins. We will all miss his humor, his songs ("You Are My Sunshine"), his dancing and his kind, loving, humble and generous heart and soul. He lived his life to the fullest and spoke into so many lives.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm with graveside service immediately following at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Colonial Cemetery in Independence, LA.
