Betty Sue Penalber (St. Cyr) born August 6, 1946 gained her wings on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. "Ms. Betty", as the kids all called her, retired from teaching second grade for 25 years. She started and ended her career at Albany Lower Elementary. Her love of fishing, football, cookouts, and needlework brings countless memories to everyone that loved and admired her. Family was very important to her. Many hours were spent researching and creating family trees dating back to the 19th century.

 

She leaves behind her number one, her husband of 53 years, Emanuel. She is also survived by two sisters Joyce Hutchinson (David) and Vickie Gehegan (Earl), Her four children Donna Ward and son-in-law Jim; Jeff Penalber; Tonya McKinney; son Clint Penalber and daughter-in-law Laura. Grandchildren Veronica Jones (Cody), Amber Reno (Brock), Kassy Penalber, Ethan Edwards, Madison Penalber, Hunter McKinney, Tyler Penalber, Hannah Ward, Camryn McKinney and Marcus Penalber. Great grandchildren – Ava, Riley, Addie, Gabriel, Layne, & Kyndal, Numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren that she treasured dearly.

 

Preceding her in death were her Parents Eugene and Corrine St. Cyr, Brothers Gene Allen, Ronnie, and Wayne St. Cyr, and a Granddaughter Courtney Edwards.

 

In addition to the exceptional care provided by her loving children and husband, we would like to recognize Dr. Brooks of Ocshner Medical Oncology, Hospice Nurse Robin, Aid Susie, her loving daughter in law Laura Penalber and niece Shannon Peterson.

 

Pall Bearers will be Cody Jones, Ethan Edwards, Tyler Penalber, Keith McKinney, Hunter McKinney, and Brock Reno. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Jim Ward and Marcus Penalber.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.  Dr. Glynn Reine and Rev. Clint Penalber will officiate and internment will follow at Springfield Cemetery.
