Betty Magee Teel

Betty Magee Teel passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 72.  She was born on Wednesday, February 23, 1949 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Sarah Brumfield Magee and the late Reverend Jacob "J. W." Magee, Sr.  She was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Betty was married to her husband, Buell "Bud" Teel in 1972, and worked at Bellsouth, retiring after 33 years.

Betty is survived by her husband, Buell "Bud" Teel; daughter, Sarah Teel Zeppuhar (Joe); son, James Teel, Sr. (Susan); grandchildren, Zane Zeppuhar, Slade Zeppuhar, James Teel, Jr., Taylor Teel, Brooke Teel Legg, Jayden Teel, and Shawn Corber; great-grandchildren, Kase, Jase, Kenzie, Isaac, and Jordan; brothers, Jacob "J. W."  Magee, Jr. and David Magee; and sister, Edna Magee Bankston.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Jacob "J. W." Magee, Sr.; her mother, who passed away when Betty was 7 years old, Sarah Brumfield Magee; her step-mother, who raised her, Patty Magee; and her brother, Walter Magee.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM.  Pallbearers will be Zane Zeppuhar, Slade Zeppuhar, Wyman Bankston, Bryce Teel, Justin Magee, and DJ Magee. Honorary pallbearers will be James Teel, Jr., Shawn Corber, and Jason Ballard.

Interment will follow in Bedico Community Cemetery, Bedico, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that donations be made to St. Joseph Hospice in Betty's name.
