Betty Landry Loupe passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at her home, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 97. She was born on Wednesday, December 30, 1925 in Hammond, Louisiana to the late Freda and Ronnie Landry.  She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.

Betty was born and spent her childhood in Hammond. She became interested in aviation. In high school, she was trained to be a "spotter" for any enemy aircraft flying over Strawberry Stadium during WWII. She later attended LSU and became a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, and also earned a private pilot's license. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering in 1948. She met Lee Loupe in engineering classes and they later married. They opened Lee's Drive-In in Hammond. She enjoyed helping the staff and visiting during the busy lunch times. Betty and Lee joined Krewe of Omega and served as King and Queen VIII. They enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends. They also traveled extensively to many countries. Betty enjoyed playing golf, trying new recipes, and doing needlepoint and crotchet needle work. In her later years, she crocheted blankets and donated them to various local organizations. Family was most important to her, and she was the happiest when spending time with them.

Betty  is survived by her daughters, Marylee Loupe Allen and Janet Loupe Davis, grandchildren, Kyle Busekist (Adrien) of Baton Rouge, Ryan Busekist of London, UK, and Whitney Yohe (Sean) of Ogden, UT, as well as her great-grandchildren, Lee and Patrick Busekist of Baton Rouge, Isla, Stella and Finan Yohe of Ogden, UT.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee J. Loupe; parents, Freda and Ronnie Landry; and her siblings, Charles Edward Landry and Mary Lou Riviere.
