Betty Fairburn Williams

Betty Fairburn Williams, 82 years old of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, went to meet her Lord and Savior on August 23, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 24, 1938, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Calvin Fairburn and Annie Meyn Fairburn.

Betty was very active until the end of last year. Her favorite thing to do was work in the yard and cut grass. She loved animals- especially her many dogs over the years. She enjoyed attending Ponchatoula High School football games with her husband and watching her children and grandchildren on the field in a variety of capacities over the years. She was proud of all the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid LSU and Saints football fan. She brought happiness to everyone who knew her. One of her favorite songs was "You are My Sunshine" which is what she was to those around her.

Betty was a Christian and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula where she especially enjoyed her Sunday School Class. She loved her husband of 51 years, Richard (Dick) Williams. They attended First Baptist when they were children, were married in the church, and raised their five children in the church. Her Sunday lunches were a source of pride and joy for her. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Betty is survived by 5 children, Danny Williams; Timmy Williams, Holly Schorr (Mark); Barry Williams, and Kenny Williams; 10 grandchildren, Heather Autrey (Ben), Lauren Schorr, Jonathan Williams, Jacob Williams (Veronica), Brady Williams (Victoria), Robert Schorr, Taylor Williams, Riley Williams, Jeremy Williams, and Kyle Williams; 6 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Autrey, Carsen Williams, Everett Williams, Elena Williams, Taylor Williams, and Wyatt Williams; and her sister, Annette Clark. She was also grandmother to 24 exchange students from 14 countries. She loved them and they loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Williams; brothers, Leonard Fairburn and Alton Fairburn; sister, Barbara Fairburn; and twin grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Williams.
