Benedict Norman Basso, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at North Oaks Medical Center on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the age of 84. He was born on July 30, 1936, in Hammond, Louisiana, the son of the late Benedict Joseph Basso and Martha Pourciau Basso. Norman was a retired boilermaker and a member of Boilermakers Local 37 in New Orleans. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time at his family camp on "The Pass." He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's and great granchildren's sporting events and woodworking projects in his shop.
Norman is survived by his sons, Mike Basso (Susan), David Basso (Joanne), Allen Basso (Kim), and Mark Basso (Ava); grandchildren, Adrienne, Jenna (Josh), Barrett (Telicia), Blake (Casey), Aaron, Kristi, and Emily; great grandchildren, Brielle, Analiese, Madison, Jayde, Jace, Nora, and Luke; sister, Evelyn Pecoraro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Janet Antoinette "Snookie" Wilson Basso and sisters, Hazel Saizan, Euna Mae Deliberto, and Gertrude Monistere.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am, with Deacon Larry Melancon officiating.
Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
