Barton Joseph Coccaro

Barton Joseph Coccaro passed away at home in Florida on November 19, 2025, at the age of 83. Son of the late Raymond Barton Coccaro and Rita Salles Coccaro, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cecile LeBlanc Coccaro. He is survived by his son, Kevin Coccaro. Barton was the brother of the late Monetta (Philip dec.) Clark, Marsha (Thomas dec.) Buell and Joseph (Janice) Coccaro. He also had an extended family of many nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.

Barton was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, attended Mississippi State University and served in the Mississippi and Louisiana National Guard. He had a long career in engineering, including the NASA Apollo Space Program, and worked for many years for Occidental Chemical/PCS Phosphate. He and his wife lived in the New Orleans area for over 20 years before relocating to Florida.

Barton was very outgoing and active for his age, and had a great sense of humor. He was beloved by many people who knew him. He loved to eat out at local restaurants and became friends with many who worked there. He also had a friendship with a mom and her children, and they will miss him dearly. "Mr. Barton" loved to help out with the kids and would visit them often. That family includes Tiffanie, Alysse, Aryn, Lexi, Lacey and Stone.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm.

A Graveside Service will be held at Ponchatoula Cemetery, Highway 22 @ I-55, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 3:00 pm, with Deacon Larry Melancon officiating.
