Barbara Bankston DePriest

Barbara Bankston DePriest, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on December 13, 1935, in Baptist, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Baudy Rochester Bankston and Juanita Bankston. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved her family more than anything in the world and would always place the needs of others above her own. As a longtime member of Natalbany Baptist Church, Barbara was committed to her faith and trust in the Lord. Her kind and gentle spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

Barbara is survived by her children, Lee Ann DePriest (Peter), Anita DePriest Garon (David), and Scot DePriest (Courtney); grandchildren, Cliff Yee, Kyle Yee, Lindsay Garon Gilbert, Joseph Garon, Ginger DePriest, Libby DePriest, and Aubrey Mund; great-grandchildren, Connor Yee, Ryan Brandenburg, Atlas Garon, and Ellis Gilbert; sister, Ellazene Greer; son-in-law, Andrew Mund; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James "Floyd" DePriest; daughter, Beth DePriest Mund; and 4 sisters, Maxine, Delores, Betty, and Linda.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at New Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.
