Barbara Cambre Arceneaux

Barbara Cambre Arceneaux, age 73, peacefully passed away at her Springfield residence surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 14, 2025. She loved everyone and had the kindest, sweetest soul. A devoted wife of 54 years to Larry and loving mother, she always put others first. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her by always showing support and compassion. She loved with her whole heart and saw greatness in everyone. Barbara dedicated many years as a special education paraprofessional at Springfield Elementary School, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of countless children. She cherished spending time with her family and being outdoors enjoying the sunshine. Her unwavering love, generosity, and gentle spirit will live on in all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Larry Arceneaux; beautiful daughters, Jeanie Kropog (Shane) and Joanie Degenhardt; sweet grandchildren, Kayla Winburn (Ches), Amber Kropog, Lane Degenhardt and Bayley Degenhardt; precious great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Luke Winburn; sisters, Evelyn Cambre (Barney), Gloria Delaune, Peggy Savoy (Donnell), Rita Penalber, Diana Fontenot (Ray); brother, Dale Cambre (Ruth); brother-in-laws, Freddie Arceneaux (Linda) and Gary Arceneaux (Rose); sister-in-law, Lanelle Arceneaux; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Leo and Gladys Cambre; brother, Darryl Cambre; son-in-law, Jason Degenhardt; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Felix “Bay” and Lizzy Arceneaux; brother-in-laws, Felix “Butch” Arceneaux Jr., Mervin Delaune, and Brince Penalber.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Barbara’s visitation on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, from 12:00 noon until the Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 p.m.. Deacon Nat Garofalo will officiate the services with interment to follow in Carter Cemetery in Springfield.
