It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Austin Herman Glass, Paw-Paw, 95 of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully, holding his lovely wife Adrienne Glass’ hand on November 8, 2025, also surrounded by the family he cherished. Known for his gentle heart, stern voice, and unwavering love for those around him. Austin leaves behind a legacy grounded in strength, faith, and love.

Born on September 18, 1930, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Austin was the son of humble beginnings, shaped by a small-town upbringing that instilled in him a lifelong value of dedication and humility. Austin lived a remarkable life filled with dedication, love, and service.

A proud graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in Social Sciences, Austin devoted his life to making a difference in his community. He served honorably as a Marine in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery and commitment. Professionally, Austin ran Hammond State School, where he positively impacted the lives of countless humans. His passion for helping others led him to plant and nourish the Louisiana chapter of the Special Olympics. Austin was also a member of the Free Masons, further showing his commitment to his community and serving its people.

After returning home from the war, and many attempts, he finally married the love of his life, Adrienne Reviere, after she finally accepted a date with him. That would turn out to be the best decision of both of their lives, creating a love that they could only know, and others dream of, a love of a lifetime. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Brenda (Matt) Kinchen, Bridgette (Ricky) Brooks, who will continue to carry and honor his legacy. He was a cherished grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Matthew Kinchen, Jennifer Kinchen, Chelsea (Justin) Horton, Blake Brooks, Trevor Kinchen, Breana (Avery) Bergeron, Brody Kinchen, Ashlynn Forrest, Mason Forrest, Blane Kinchen, and Shane Coghlan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Myrtle Glass, his grandson, Austin Dale Brooks, and siblings, Jimmy Glass, Ima Jean Lemons, Ernestine Sharp, and Bobby Glass.

Known as a “man’s man”, Austin was deeply respected by all who had the privilege to meet him. His loving demeanor, though often expressed in a stern manner, made him a father figure and “Paw-Paw” to many. He had a unique ability to connect with everyone, making a lasting impression on their hearts. His kindness and mental strength left a mark on all who got the chance to know him.
