Aulton "Jay" Henry Bickford, Jr.

Aulton  "Jay" Henry Bickford, Jr. passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 73.  He was born on Thursday, April 3, 1947 in Hammond, Louisiana to the late Zella Culbreath and Aulton Bickford, Sr.  He was a resident of Slidell, Louisiana.

In his younger years, he was known as Junior, but in later years became known as “Jay”. He served his country faithfully in the Vietnam war. He was a long time successful business owner of Jay’s Painting for over 30 years. He loved and cherished his wife of 35 years who always stood faithfully by his side. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply. Jay was a very generous and giving person who everyone loved to be around. He will be missed by so many, but we look forward to the day we will see him again in Glory with Jesus.

Jay is survived by his wife, Elsa Bickford; daughter, Michelle Greer (Jeff); sons, Michael Bickford (Tammy), Jason Bickford, and Christopher Bickford (Amanda); grandchildren, Devin Greer (Bridgette), Hannah, Zachary, Evan, and Caleb Bickford, Jasmine, Logan, and Laynee Bickford, Thomas Bickford, Lilly, Coy, Spencer, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Ellie Greer and Colt Bickford; sister, Shirley Bickford; brother, Joe Bickford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, September 12, 2020 beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 11:30 AM. Pallbearers for Jay's service will be Michael Malbrough, Bobby Malbrough, Jeff Greer, Devin Greer, Zachary Bickford, and Evan Bickford.  Conducting the service will be minister Gene Rovena.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
