Augustine Palmintier Lobue

“Give sorrow words.

The grief that does not speak

Whisp’rs the o’er fraught heart

Augustine Palmintier Lobue, 97 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, went to her heavenly reward Sunday, September 11, 2016 at her residence.

She was born May 14, 1919 in Hammond, daughter of the late Joseph Vincent Palmintier and Giovanna Signorelli Palmintier.  She married Joseph Vincent Lobue on November 22, 1936 and was blessed with five children.  She was an active member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society and many local groups and organizations. After her children were on their own, she also worked at Antin’s Jewelers.  She lovingly devoted much of her time and energy to the care of her husband and children.  She was an accomplished seamstress, often making the clothes that her children wore; and in a community known to having many great Italian cooks, was renowned for her meatballs and lemon cakes.

But above all she will be remembered, not just by her family and friends, but by an entire community, for her inner and outer beauty and as a model of grace, elegance and compassion without equal.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers:  Dominic, Joseph, Vincent and John Palmintier; sisters:  Mary Palmintier Alack, Kathryn Palmintier DePaula and JoAnn Palmintier Peco, granddaughter Sheryl Lobue and great-granddaughter Hannah Lobue.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Palmintier Masaracchia, son Ange Lobue and wife Chantal, son Joseph Lobue Jr. and wife Pat, son Anthony Lobue and wife Janet, son John David (J.D.) Lobue and wife Joy, daughter, Paula Gayle Lobue Reddien and husband Charles (Kip); grandchildren:  Steven Lobue and Charlotte Prim, David Lobue and wife Tracey, Robyn Lobue Tucker and Phil McCarty, Becky Lobue Bruckner and husband Gary, Robert Rodriguez and wife Panda, J.D. (Jadie) Lobue Jr. and wife Claudia, Susan Lobue Delmonte and husband Mark, Bradley Lobue and wife Mayumi, Tyler Reddien, Robert Kent and wife Rasa, and Sandrine Amador and husband Brandon; great-grandchildren: Trysten Tucker, Taylor Tucker Finch and husband Taylor, Christopher Lobue, Rachel Lobue, Keegan Bruckner, Bailey Bruckner, Timnesha Rodriguez, Rachel Rodriguez, Ryan Rodriguez, Ashley Prim McDonald and husband David, Valva Kent, Zuri Amador, Amauri Amador, and Niila Amador; great-great-grandchildren: Phillip Ketchum Jr., Pierce Ketchum and Sophie McDonald.

Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Wednesday, September 14, 2016, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond, from 9:30 am until the funeral service at 10:30 am.

Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
