Aubrey Jenkins, of Springfield Louisiana, departed for Heaven at age 87 on November 5, 2024 as the result of a stroke. The son of Ellis Jenkins and Beatrice Griffin Jenkins Lilly, he was predeceased by his parents, his sister Shirley Jenkins Stonecypher, and his son Roy Jenkins.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Ophelia Fray, their children and families: Roy's wife Linda and their children Lacey (Micah) and Kyle (Esther); Sharon (David) DeLoach and their children Matthew (Ashley), Trenton, and Elissa; Suzanne (David) Gill and their sons Mason and Ryan; and seven great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life he had many accomplishments. He served in the U. S. Air Force; he was an electron microscopist at Tulane Medical Center; became a professional photographer for the New Orleans area as well as operating a retail store in the French Quarter. He was in sales most of his life. Some of his favorite hobbies were riding his motorcycle, reading, buying and selling vehicles. He was always seeking a new adventure. In his later years he treasured the caring friendships of his neighbors of Albany, and the cheery daily lunchtime gatherings at the Springfield Young at Heart Club.
In keeping with his scientific interests, Aubrey donated his body to the State of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Bureau of Anatomical Services, specifically to LSU for educational purposes. After several years use in medical study, his body will be cremated and returned to the family. Therefore, in keeping with his last wishes, no services will be held. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Richard Murphy Hospice House https://www.richardmurphyhospice.com/donate#top where he peacefully ended his journey; or The Hospice of Baton Rouge whose staff compassionately helped him move on to his next adventure. https://www.hospicebr.org/pages/donate
