Ashton Kemp, of Independence, passed away November 13, 2024, at the age of 15. He was born in Covington, LA, in 2008 to his dearly departed father Beren Varnado and mother Michelle Kemp. Ashton loved to hunt and spend time with his family and friends. He was deputized by the Game Wardens of Louisiana and Brookhaven Mississippi, Wildlife and Fisheries, who made his dream hunt a reality. Ashton was able to shoot his axis first deer, as well as a few ducks, and spend every last moment with his family.
Ashton will always be remembered for his sense of humor and the way that he always joked with family members. We couldn’t have asked for a better child, and we will miss Ashton every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Ashton is survived by his mother, Michelle Kemp; "mom", Emma Western; siblings, Kayson, Haze, and Maelee; grandmothers, Tammy Martin and Sandia Meyers; ‘Nana” Tannia Hargrave, aunt BB; cousins, Tristian and Amber Humphreys; as well as numerous other, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ashton was preceded in death by his Father, Beren Varnado; Grandfather, Bruce Vernado; and Aunt, Daphne Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at The River Fellowship, 45173 River Rd, Hammond, LA 70401 at 11:00 am, with a fellowship lunch to follow.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Louisiana and Brookhaven Mississippi, Wildlife and Fisheries and Independence Fire Department.
